Husband shoots wife, himself

GUJAR KHAN, Jan 30: A physically handicapped man shot his wife dead and also ended his own life by shooting himself in village Sui-Chemian on Monday.

According to DSP Syed Iqbal Kazmi, the 60-year-old Abdul Rehman shot his wife Nuzhat Bibi, 36, with a pistol and later committed suicide with the same weapon. The father of five had been facing financial hardships. The police shifted the bodies to THQ hospital for autopsy and started further investigation.— Correspondent

Man shot dead

RAWALPINDI, Jan 30: A man was shot dead in his apartment here on Monday, police said.

Kashif Khan who was residing in an apartment located in Tench Bhatta was shot dead by some persons who managed to escape after committing the crime. Police said Kashif Khan was associated with a semi-government organisation as a driver.

Inspector Allah Yar who is leading the investigation revealed that it looked a motivated murder as nothing was found stolen from his apartment. The body of the deceased was removed to the DHQ hospital for post-mortem. — Staff Reporter

3G policy

ISLAMABAD, Jan 30: Ministry of Information Technology’s failure to hold briefing on 3G (third generation) policy on Monday annoyed the Standing Committee on Information Technology and Telecommunication.

Moreover, the committee also took the ministry to task for not considering the committee recommendations properly in 3-G Policy formulation and directed that ministry to avoid using delaying tactics and give comprehensive briefing on policy during next week.— A Reporter
