PESHAWAR, Nov 29: The Muttahida Labour Federation has requested the federal minister for labour and manpower to convene a meeting of the standing committee on social welfare so that the new labour policy and the IRO can be reviewed.

In a joint statement the MLF central president Gul Rehman and his provincial president said the new labour policy has some clauses which are not acceptable to the workers.

They said that the new labour policy and Industrial Relations Ordinance are not reflecting the genuine demands and wishes of the workers.

The new policy concerning the labour community and IRO has nothing favourable in it for them. Instead, giving more rights to the labour community, the new policy and IRO had curtailed their few rights which they were enjoying before the formulation of the new policy. It has also increased the sanctions instead of abolishing them, they added.

The new labour policy and the IRO have disappointed the labourers.
