LAHORE: Lahore High Court (LHC) Chief Justice Sheikh Azmat Saeed told a Trading Corporation of Pakistan (TCP) representative on Wednesday to submit the record of sugar stocks and buying prices.
The chief justice passed these directions while hearing a petition which seeks barring the TCP from buying sugar from sugar mills allegedly at Rs63 to 65 per kilogramme (kg). Petitioner Azhar Siddique claims the commodity is being sold at Rs53 per kg in open market.A TCP representative appeared before the court and sought time to inform the court about the stock.
The chief justice said the authorities would have to share all information sought by a citizen. "Now the decisions have to be made under the sky and not behind closed doors," he added.
The judge directed the TCP representative to submit the record of sugar stocks and prices in the market and the rate at which the TCP bought from sugar mills. The court will resume hearing on Feb 10.
REFFER:LHC Justice Umar Ata Bandial referred on Wednesday two petitions challenging non-compliance of sessions' court orders for registration of cases, to the chief justice asking for a larger bench to further proceed with the matter.
The judge observed that during the course of hearings some important legal points had been raised from either side which needed to be decided. Therefore a larger bench should hear the matter.
Mohammad Inam Ali and Rehmat Masih filed the petitions against police for not registering cases despite directions of additional district and sessions judges.
