LAHORE, Jan 17: Nawab Town police on Tuesday recovered a four-month-old minor abducted from a rented portion of a house in Johar Town on Monday and arrested two women.

Chuhng circle ASP Jahanzeb Khan told Dawn the police rushed to Samsani Village on an emergency call around 4:30pm that a baby boy identified as Abdul Rehman had been kidnapped from a rented room.

He said the police registered a case under Section 363 (punishment for kidnapping) of the PPC and began investigation.

As complainant Parveen Bibi, a maid, who had beenliving in the rented room along with her two daughters and the adopted son after the death of her husband, suspected involvement of her neighbour Fatima alias Sania, the police quizzed her who confessed to the crime.

On the indication of Fatima, the police raided a house owned by her friend Shahida in Chungi Amar Sidhu in the morning and recovered the baby.

Fatima told the police she got separated from her husband two weeks ago who also forcibly took the custody of her three sons. The loss of her sons pushed her to abduct the baby boy and shehanded him over to her friend.

The suspect, who rented a room in the same house where Parveen lived a week ago, got acquaintance with Parveen, and later abducted the child in mother's absence.

Parveen's 10-year-old physically challenged daughter told the police that Fatima took her to her room downstairs and pressed for not returning to the room for some time before disappearance of Rehman.

ASP Jahanzeb said the police were not ruling out the possibility of Fatima's involvement in similar kidnappings with the help of Shahida.
