KARAK, Jan 9: Four persons were killed and one injured in separate incidents here on Monday.

Police said Fahimullah, a relative of JI district president Maulana Tasleem Iqbal, was shot dead by unknown assailants when he was at his shop on Sunday night. The brother of Fahimullah registered FIR in Khurram police station against unknown persons.

In the second incident, two men, after exchanging hot words, started firing, killing a passer-by identified as Khurram Jamal, resident of Babalkhel, and injuring his friend Zahidullah.

The relatives of the slain and injured registered FIR in Takht Nusrati police station.

In another incident, a man Mir Abas Khan of Zarki Nusrati was killed over an old enmity. Relatives of the deceased registered FIR in Takht Nusrati police against Kausar Alam and Samiullah.

In yet another incident a speedy passenger van (LWC 4430) going towards D.I. Khan hit a motorcycle rider, Noor Khan, resident of Taterkhel, killing him on the spot.

POLICE PERFORMANCE: Police claimed arresting 1,070 proclaimed offenders and recovering huge cache of weapons from them during the year 2011.

Sources said on Monday Karak police also recovered 160 Kalashnikovs, 29 Kalakovs, 203 rifles, 475 pistols, 7 hand grenades, 21 magazines, 13,270 cartridges, 149 gram hashish and 137 gram heroin from the outlaws.

They said eight POs were killed during 17 encounters.

Nine police officials also sustained critical injuries in these encounters.

They further informed that police also raided hideouts of kidnappers and car lifter gangs and arrested 56 accused and also recovered 2 kidnapped persons.

DPO Sajjad Khan told reporters that arrest of all the accused involved in the Uzma Ayub gang rape case and the murder of her brother was a challenge for Karak police.
