KARACHI, Jan 7: Rashid Hussain and Adeel Babar inspired Punjab CC to a 28-run victory over Youngster Gymkhana in the KCCA Abdul Dyer Cup cricket tournament match at the Punjab Ground here on Friday.

Rashid struck a splendid 90, a knock that included nine boundaries, as Punjab CC made 269-6 in their 40 overs. Slow left-armer Moiz Ahmed grabbed 5-68.

Youngster Gymkhana, in reply, made a valiant attempt to reach a stiff target through fighting innings by Salman Ahmed (85 with eight fours) and Mohammad Zohaib (73, nine fours) but were undone by Adeel Babar’s slow left-armers. The spinner finished with six wickets for 40 runs.

In other matches Nazir Hussain Gymkhana defeated Shaheen Gymkhana by 34 runs at their own ground. Faisal Gymkhana overwhelmed Unity Gymkhana by 120 runs at the Airport Stadium, while Landhi Friends downed Model CC by six wickets at the Landhi Gymkhana Ground.
