ISLAMABAD, Nov 25: Minister for Information and Media Development Sheikh Rashid Ahmad on Monday said that the government will make the access to information easier for everybody.

He made this assurance during a briefing at the ministry of information and media development, which was attended by Secretary Information Syed Anwar Mahmood, Pakistan Broadcasting Corporation Director General Tariq Imam, APP Director General Ashfaq Gondal and Principal Inform-ation Officer Akram Shaheedi.

Mr Rashid said that the policy of the government was to make the information more easily accessible for the common people. Steps would be taken to institutionalize access to information, he added.

The minister, terming state media a “national trust”, said that it should be used to promote national objectives and interests than any particular party or group.

He said that the state media would be used to project and promote aspirations of the people and national values.

He directed the officials of the PTV, PBC and APP to ensure that anything news-worthy should be projected through their respective medium, irrespective of the fact that it was palatable or not and should not be held back.—APP
