HYDERABAD, Nov 25: A group of teachers and employees of the Government High School, Chukhi, Hyderabad taluka, staged a protest demonstration outside the press club here on Monday.

They were protesting against the headmaster, Ghulam Hussain Khaskheli, and a junior clerk, Habibullah Ansari, of the school, who had allegedly misappropriated their October salary, amounting to over Rs150,000.

They raised slogans against the headmaster and the clerk.

Talking to newsmen, the representatives of the protesters, Mir Mukhtiar and others said when they went to the National Bank, Fatima Jinnah Road branch, they were told by the bank officials the headmaster and the clerk had withdrawn the salary amount on Nov 4.

They said they had informed the higher authorities concerned about the misappropriation.

They appealed to the authorities concerned to take notice of the matter and ensure the payment of their salary.

DIWALI: More than 3,000 members of the Hindu community celebrated Diwali at the Mehmood Garden on Saturday night under the aegis of the Hyderabad Hindu Panchayat.

The gathering observed one minute silence on the demise of P. K. Shahani.

The artists presented tableau on Jholelal, Radha Kirishan, Ganesh Maharaj and Shiv Parwati.

Speaking on the occasion, Hindu spiritual leader Saeen Sadh Ram urged the community to work for the cause of humanity.

A musical programme was also held.
