KARACHI, Dec 31: Mohammad Hussain CC became the last team to qualify for the quarter-finals of the 6TH NBP-KCCA Premier Cricket League after beating Sir Syed CC by four wickets at the TMC Ground to finish undefeated in Group ‘C’ here on Friday. Imran Javed was the star performer for the winning side by striking an unbeaten 79 that included five fours and a brace of sixes.

Earlier, Sir Syed CC were all out for 174 in 39.5 overs with medium-pacer Owais Pasta claiming four wickets for 14 runs in a deadly spell.

Meanwhile, in two inconsequential matches, Tapal CC beat Nazimabad Gymkhana by six wickets at the Asghar Ali Shah Stadium, while New United Gymkhana also recorded a similar win against Rangers CC in the last group match of the tournament at the NHYF Ground.

The knockout phase of the competition starts from Tuesday with Malir Gymkhana taking on Korangi Al-Fateh CC in the first quarter-final at the RLCA Ground in Gulberg. The remaining two last-eight fixtures will be held at the TMC Ground with Air Port Gymkhana facing Mohammad Hussain CC on Wednesday followed by the Al-Noor Gymkhana-Nazimabad Gymkhana tie on Thursday.

Pakistan CC, the five-time champions, have been given a bye into the semi-finals where they await the winners of the opening quarter-final in a fixture to be played at the RLCA Ground in Gulberg on Jan 9. The second semi-final will also staged at the same venue a day later.
