Frontier assembly session today

PESHAWAR, Nov 24: All arrangements have been finalized for the inaugural session of the Frontier Assembly here on Monday. Former speaker Hidayatullah Chamkani will preside over the session and administer the oath to MPAs-elect of the assembly.

The Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal, which has emerged as the single largest group in the assembly, is set to form its government in the province.

The PPP (Sherpao) is the second largest group with 10 members. The PPP, ANP and PML-Q have won eight seats each. The PML-N has four seats, while the Swabi Qaumi Alliance and Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf have one seat each in the 125-member House.

Some of the MMA members-elect were of the view that they would take the oath under the original 1973 Constitution and not under the Legal Framework Order (LFO), which according to them, was no law at all.

The MMA parliamentary group held a meeting to finalize its strategy in the House.
