BAHAWALPUR, Nov 17: The National Accountability Bureau has completed investigation against Sahibzada Usman Daud Abbasi, former deputy speaker of the Punjab Assembly, it is learnt.
It took NAB authorities three months to complete investigations. The reference has reportedly been submitted in an accountability court for trial.
Sahibzada Usman is stated to be a defaulter of Rs3.4 million of a finance corporation. According to family sources, they are ready to pay the amount and negotiations with NAB are in progress.
WATER SCHEMES: The Cholistan Development Authority has sought the Punjab government’s approval for four water supply schemes through pipelines.
The schemes are: Channan Pir to Bijnot (total length 120 kilometres), Malkana to Tofana (50kms), One-L Abbasia to Nawan Kot (70kms), and Mir Garh to Toba (34kms).
TEACHERS’ DEMO: More than 300 male and female teachers of the government primary schools on Saturday staged a protest demonstration and took out a rally to press for the acceptance of their demands.
The teachers demanded that district education officer (female) Zeb Butt should be transferred immediately. They alleged that DEO misbehaved with teachers, and stopped their salaries for the past four months.
The teachers gathered at Farid Park near Seraiki Chowk and marched to the office of district Nazim and DCO. Naib Nazim Owais Gardezi himself reached the education office where negotiations were held. Later, he assured them that their demands would be accepted within a couple of days.
