Galyat uplift funds released

Published November 24, 2002

ABBOTTABAD, Nov 23: The NWFP government has returned Rs100 million to the Galyat Development Authority which was withdrawn from the GDA some time back.

GDA director Ikramullah said the funds had been restored and would be deposited in the GDA account. The funds are now at the disposal of the district government which will be utilized for the uplift of Galyat, he added.

The provincial government in 1999 had allocated the funds to the GDA. Half of the amount was released as seed money to the GDA and the rest as grant, the director said. According to the GDA officials, a comprehensive plan for development of Galyat has been approved by the district government which will be executed in two phases.
