RAWALPINDI, Dec 20: A woman whose husband was killed in a terrorist attack about five years back was shot dead during a house robbery in Westridge on Tuesday.

Police said three unidentified persons entered the house of Tehseen Fatima, 56, and shot her dead.

Ms Fatima’s husband Rehmatullah Khan was killed in a terrorist attack on an Army Medical College bus in R.A. Bazaar on January 4, 2007.

He was returning home after dropping his daughter-in-law at her school where she worked as a teacher when the suicide attack happened.

The victim’s elder son, Rizwan Khan, who is associated with the motorway police as a computer programmer, informed the police that he was on duty when one of his neighbours called him and said his house had been robbed and there was also sound of gunshots.

“I telephoned a friend who lived in the other street to go to my house and see what had happened,” Rizwan told Dawn.

He said as his friend confirmed the news, he returned to his house and found his mother shot dead.

A police official, who was at the crime scene, said: “It appeared to be an attempted robbery; however, nothing was taken away by the robbers.”

The son of the victim said all his siblings went to work leaving their mother alone at home and later a maid came to the house.

Quoting the housemaid, he said the three robbers entered the house through the kitchen door and they were wearing shawls and carrying pistols.

He said it looked as one of the culprits was caught by his mother after which his accomplices shot her dead.Meanwhile, in another incident, three robbers entered the house of a trader in Ganjmandi and looted cash, prize bonds and gold ornaments after taking the inmates hostage, police said.

Ijaz Khan complained to the police that the robbers snatched Rs200,000, prize bonds valuing Rs10,000, 14 gold bangles and five earrings.
