MUZAFFARABAD, Nov 17: The newly-appointed deputy inspector general of police, Muzaffarabad range, Sheikh Tahir Qayyum, has asked the police officials to work towards the restoration of people’s confidence in the institution.

He said this here on Thursday at a meeting with superintendents of police in Muzaffarabad range, after assuming the charge of DIG police.

The meeting discussed the law and order and crime control situation, recovery of illegal arms, narcotics, and problems faced by the police.

The DIG stressed upon the district police chiefs to take effective measures to maintain law and order in their jurisdictions. He asked them to inculcate the spirit of answerability and efficiency in the force and try to improve their attitude towards the public. If the police worked with dedication and honesty, their image could be ameliorated, he added.

The DIG asked the officials to hold regular meetings with the people.
