VEHARI, Nov 22: The Mailsi civil judge on Friday again rejected the bail application of the two main accused in the Sarwar Mai case.

They are punchayat head Jahangir Tareen and Allah Ditta, the brother-in-law of Sarwar Mai.

Sarwar Mai and his brother, Karam Husain, gave a statement in the favour of Jahangir Tareen before the court, saying his name in the FIR was included due to some misunderstanding.

However, the judge rejected the bail application of both the accused.

The other accused of the case — Mohammad Asghar, Munshi Yasin, Mohammad Iqbal and Mohammad Yar — are still at large.

ARRESTED: Police on Thursday night arrested an activist of the banned Lashkar-i-Jhangvi from Chak 181/9-L, Chichawatni.

A source said Hafiz Naeemur Rahman was arrested on the identification of some activists already in custody.

WAPDA TEAM: A Wapda team was beaten up by a trader and accomplice in Sadiq Town here on Friday.

A Wapda team comprising line superintendent Mohammad Rashid, Mohammad Manzoor and Shabbir raided the house of Mushtaq Ahmad and caught him red-handed stealing electricity from the main pole.

Following an exchange of hot words, Mushtaq along with his accomplice beat up the Wapda team. The injured Wapda officials were taken to hospital.
