KARACHI: Sindh Home Minister Manzoor Hussain Wasan said on Tuesday the provincial government had no objection to a rally that Pakistan Tehrik-i-Insaaf wants to hold in Karachi on Dec 25 but asked the party to change the venue or seek permission from the federal government if it insists on organising the event in the park adjoining the Quaid’s mausoleum.

The Pakistan Tehrik-i-Insaaf weeks ago announced its plan to hold the rally near the Quaid’s mausoleum.

In a statement, the home minister showed support for the Pakistan Tehrik-i-Insaaf rally in terms of providing security arrangements and other help and suggested Nishter Park or any other place for the public meeting.

“Permission of Quaid-i-Azam’s mausoleum and area in the surrounding for the rally depends on the nod from the federal ministry of national heritage and integration that administers mausoleum affairs,” the statement said.

“The aforesaid ministry’s permission is mandatory for any activity in that area and if the federal ministry allows that we would not have any objection at all.”
