Two brothers shot dead

CHARSADDA, Dec 11: Two brothers were killed by their rivals due to an old enmity in Mirzai area of Shabqadar.

The deceased Khan and Zakriya, sons of Attaullah, were residents of Kotak, Shabqadar. The accused managed to escape after the incident. The police have registered case and started investigation.

Meanwhile, one person was killed and another injured when they were buried under the rubble of a wall at Qulfi Korona in Showlgara area. Locals retrieved the body and the injured. The injured was taken to tehsil hospital where he was stated by in stable condition.—Correspondent

Drug addict kills wife

NOWSHERA, Dec 11: A drug addict allegedly hanged his wife at Akbar Pura area here on Sunday.

A police source said Shaheen (26), daughter of Jalil of Mohalla Syed Gul Abad, Akbar Pura, was reportedly hanged to death by his drug addict husband Jehan Zeb over some family dispute. According to police Shaheen was living with her parents to avoid harsh treatment by her husband. The Akbar Pura police arrested the accused after registering FIR against him. The body was shifted to district headquarters hospital Nowshera for autopsy.—Correspondent

Shifting of office opposed

PARACHINAR, Dec 11: MNA Sajid Hussain Turi has opposed shifting of main office of communication and works division from Parachinar to Sadda town of lower Kurram Agency.

Addressing a press conference here on Sunday Sajid Turi said Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Barrister Masood Kausar had recently ordered shifting of the office.

He said the office was opened in Parachinar before partition, adding the government instead of shifting office should upgrade the sub-division office in Sadda. He said Sadda town was not safe for local people and might create law and order situation.

Meanwhile, Human Rights Commission of Pakistan, Kurram chapter, has expressed concern over the brutal murder of Zerteef Khan Afridi, the HRCP coordinator in Khyber Agency. In a statement HRCP member Azmat Ali Alizai demanded arrest of killers of Zerteef Afridi.—Correspondent

22 arrested, arms seized

PESHAWAR, Dec 11: Police claimed on Sunday to have arrested 22 proclaimed offenders and recovered weapons and fake currency from them. A police spokesman said the arrests were made during checking at different check points.

Mudassir of Lahore was arrested at Hayatabad with Rs42,000 fake currency notes. Similarly, another accused Mohammad Yaqub of Nawal Punjab was arrested at Tehkal with Rs36,000 fake currency.

He said Badbher police arrested Misal Khan at a check point on Sulemankhel road and recovered 10 kilogram hashish from him. Besides, he said proclaimed offenders were arrested in limits of Khan Raziq, Mathra and East Cantonment police stations. Police also recovered two Kalashnikovs, seven pistols, one Kalakov and thousands of cartridges from them.—Bureau Report

Nato supplies

PESHAWAR, Dec 11: Jamaat-i-Islami provincial chief Senator Ibrahim Khan has asked government not to allow supplies for Nato forces in Afghanistan otherwise his party would launch protest movement.

Speaking at a press conference here on Sunday he regretted media reports that supplies for Nato forces had been restarted under the cover of Afghan Transit Trade which was not acceptable for the people of Pakistan.

“We will not allow a single truck to transport supplies for Nato in Afghanistan,” he said and sought clarification from the government about such reports. He said it would be embarrassing for the nation if government allowed supplies to American troops under the cover of ATT. Senator Ibrahim said Jamaat workers would block Karachi Port and Peshawar-Torkham Highway to prevent movement of containers carrying supplies for foreign troops in Afghanistan.—Bureau Report

Science fair

CHITRAL, Dec 11: More than two dozen high schools of public and private sectors on Sunday participated in the science fair arranged by Aga Khan Higher Secondary School, Kuragh upper Chitral, displaying scientific models prepared by their students.

A music show was organised during the day-long exhibition in which classical musical instruments were also displayed.

The students were brisk to the queries of the visitors about their presentations while they were found equally comfortable in their knowledge about the classical musical instruments.

The science stalls contained physics, chemistry, biology, information technology and mathematics. In the concluding session, Amir Afzal Khan, president of Aga Khan regional council of upper Chitral gave away certificates and prizes to the participants.—Correspondent
