Shahid Farooq promoted as Rear Admiral

ISLAMABAD, Nov 20: The Ministry of Defence announced on Wednesday the promotion of Commodore Shahid Farooq to the rank of Rear Admiral with immediate effect.

Commodore Shahid Farooq was commissioned in the Pakistan Navy on June 1, 1970. He is an electric engineer by profession and has vast experience in project management, maintenance and supervision.

He has a number of distinguished assignments to his credit, including General Manager Projects, PN Dockyard, Assistant Chief of Naval Staff (Maintenance) at Naval Headquarters and Managing Director, PN Dockyard.

He is a graduate of the Pakistan Navy Staff College and the National Defence College and is presently serving as the Deputy Chief of Naval Staff (Material) at the Naval Headquarters, Islamabad.

He is a recipient of Tamgha-i-Imtiaz Military and Sitara-i-Imtiaz Military.
