Internet users demand better service

Published November 21, 2002

MINGORA, Nov 20: The aut-horities of Pakistan Teleco-mmunication Company have failed to improve the Internet services in Swat.

In the past three companies, Pakistan Online, Paknet and Brain Net were functioning here, but the services of Paknet and Brain Net were closed.

Now Paknet has resumed its services with limited lines, which cannot fulfil the requirements of the increasing number of subscribers. Paknet has only 40 lines for more than 600 subscribers, who have to wait for long time to get connected. When contacted, the staff concerned said an additional digital equipment, PRI, was to be installed shortly and the problems would be solved.

They said people’s complaints had been conveyed to the higher authorities. The Internet users demanded that Science and Technology Minister Dr Attaur Rehman should take interest in the matter.
