HARIPUR, Nov 20: The district council in its meeting here on Tuesday elected members of the Public Safety Commission (PSC).

The session convened for the election of four PSC members from the house, through secret ballot, was presided over by the district naib Nazim, Riaz Khan Jadoon, while Haripur civil judge Azhar Tanoli conducted the election.

The District Coordination Officer, Jehanzeb Khan, also attended the session and answered the queries of the members pertaining to the powers and duties of the PSC.

Those who were elected were Mrs Farhat Yasmeen, Ch Zaheer, Firdos Khan, and Salim Khan Jadoon, who obtained 35, 15, 18 and 21 votes, while Mrs Farzana Rauf and Masood Shah who could bag 27 and 8 votes, respectively.

According to the official sources the selection of the remaining four members, including one female member, from the public would be held on Dec 3, for which the district & session judge, Syed Afsar Shah, would conduct the interviews of the candidates.
