Lawyers chant slogans against the Nato attack in the country, during a protest rally on the Mall road in Lahore on Thursday, December 01, 2011. – PPI

LAHORE: Traders of The Mall and Hall Road joined the lawyers’ rally in negation of their stance that there should be no rallies and processions on The Mall.

The traders, who had a few days ago pelted the nurses demonstrating for a revised salary package with rotten eggs for blocking The Mall, welcomed the lawyers rally at Regal Chowk, showered flower petals on the participants and garlanded them.

When asked about the contradiction in their word and act, the traders took a plea that as the nurses held protests on The Mall in violation of a ban imposed by the Punjab government they were justified in doing what they did.

Defending Thursday’s rally, a trader said the lawyers came out on The Mall ‘for the sovereignty of Pakistan and to support the army’, therefore, the traders decided to support their rally and added that the LHC also allowed lawyers to take to the artery.

The traders also played patriotic songs on loudspeaker to welcome the lawyers.
