SHEIKHUPURA, Nov 19: The Punjab government on Tuesday suspended from service the deputy district revenue officer (DDRO), Sheikhupura, Khalid Mahmood Ramay, on the charge of corruption and embezzlement.

The official is allegedly involved in extorting gratification from newly-appointed patwaris in the revenue department. While appointing patwaris, the accused did not ascertain their academic certificates.

An inquiry by the revenue EDO, Munawwar Husain Cheema, found the revenue official guilty.

DCO Pervaiz Khusro Khan recommended his suspension while the Punjab government issued his suspension orders.

The official has been removed to Lahore.
