ISLAMABAD, Nov 18: Maulana Azam Tariq, MNA and head of the defunct Sipah-i-Sahaba Pakistan (SSP), on Monday announced his support to the PML-Q and its candidate for premiership Mir Zafarullah Khan Jamali.

He was talking to newsmen after meeting Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain, parliamentary leader of the PML-Q and Mr Jamali who called on him at the parliament lodges in connection with canvassing for the party candidates for the speaker and deputy speaker of the National Assembly.

Mr Tariq said that he had sought his party consultative committee’s advice and was announcing support to the PML-Q with its consent.

He claimed that his support for Mr Jamali was on the basis of his high qualities as a good Muslim and clean personal record.

When asked why the talks with the MMA remained inconclusive Mr Jamali said that the MMA leadership was lacking capabilities in making the talks conclusive.
