PESHAWAR, Nov 18: Governor Syed Iftikhar Hussain Shah has directed the law enforcement agencies to check cross-border smuggling particularly that of petroleum products.

Presiding over a meeting on the law and order situation in the province and the adjoining tribal areas, he stressed that combined and coordinated action should be taken to control the menace of kidnapping and smuggling.

He also directed the Wapda authorities to improve the electricity system in Fata and urged that measures should be taken to install electricity metres in the tribal belt.

The meeting, attended by Chief Secretary Shakil Durrani, Home Secretary Brig Mehmood Shah, FC IG Maj-Gen Tajul Haq, IGP Mohammed Saeed Khan, Secretary to Governor Sahibzada Saeed Ahmed and other high ranking officers, also discussed other related issues to establish the writ of the government and improve the law and order situation.
