KOHAT, Nov 17: A Sikh, Dian Singh, was killed in an exchange of fire with a group of kidnappers in Orakzai Agency, 23km from here on Sunday.

Dian Singh and his friends were sitting in a shop in Dabori Bazaar when a group of armed tribesmen attacked them. They wanted to kidnap Dian Singh to which his friends made a strong resistance and foiled the attempt. However, the tribesmen opened fire before absconding as a result Dian Singh was injured. He was rushed to the Dabori hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. He belonged to Khyber Agency.

In another incident, tribal elders burnt four houses of murderers belonging to Zona tribe. The accused had killed Ali Mohammad Jan of Chappar Mashti tribe, who was spearheading a campaign in favour of local bodies polls in the tribal areas. The elders also destroyed 80kg of charas and arms and ammunition belonging to the killers.
