RAWALPINDI, Nov 17: Pakistan and China have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to institutionalize annual “Defence and Security Talks” between the two armed forces.

According to a press release issued here by the ISPR both sides pledged to work for further promoting the time-tested and all-weather friendship.

The forum shall strengthen the existing comprehensive partnership and make it more dynamic for meeting the future challenges.

At the signing ceremony held at the August First Building Ministry of Defence, Beijing China, Chinese Deputy Chief of General Staff general Xiong Guangkai and Director General Joint Staff Headquarters, Lieutenant-General Syed Parwez Shahid, signed on respectively.

Speaking on the occasion, Gen Guangkai said that the establishment of Defence and Security Talks mechanism was proof of the fact that Sino-Pak friendship continues to grow, irrespective of various developments. He further said that China fully supported the policies of the Pakistan government.

The Pakistan military delegation also held a meeting with People Liberation Army, Chief of the General Staff, Gen Fu Quan You. Both sides re-affirmed their resolve to promote peace and security in the region.
