DUBAI, Nov 13: The Pakistan Air Force is participating in the Dubai Air Show-2011 inaugurated by UAE Prime Minister Sheikh Muhammad Bin Rashid Al Makhtum on Sunday, said a press release.

PAF chief Rao Qamar Suleman along with the chiefs of air forces and delegates from several other countries attended the inaugural ceremony.

Addressing a press conference, Air Chief Suleman said JF-17 Thunder, K-8 and Super Mashak aircraft of the PAF were participating in the show.

The JF-17 made its debut at the Farnborough Air Show in 2010 when two JF-17s flew all the way from Pakistan to Farnborough in Britain.

Four months later, three JF-17s participated in the Zhuhai Air Show in China, where the aircraft made their first aerobatics display. Three JF-17s also took part in the 100-year celebrations of the Turkish Air Force. The JF-17 Thunder is an all-weather, multi-role and light combat aircraft which has the potential to be the mainstay and workhorse of any air force. It is equipped with a digital fly-by-wire flight control system which gives it the agility in all regimes of the operational flight envelope.—APP
