KARACHI, Nov 16: Sindh government has decided to establish camps of universities of the province in Saudi Arab and to have partnership with the Saudi universities for joint ventures.

A decision to this effect was taken in a meeting presided over by Sindh Governor Mohammedmian Soomro during which it was also decided to invite high-profile Saudis to review and analyze education system of Sindh. Prospects for proliferation of information technology and cooperation between the two countries were also discussed.

Mr Soomro issued directives to the Sindh Information Technology Board to open its liaison office in Saudi Arab for the purpose. In addition, the establishment of educational IT commercial consulate would go a long way in achievement of the desired objectives.

The governor directed the officials to take steps for registration of foreign students in the universities without involvement of the foreign ministry. It was also decided to establish a virtual university for Pakistani and Saudi students in Saudi Arab.

The meeting underscored the significance of introduction of the grade points average system in the universities of the province to conform their standards with international institutions of higher educations and in this regard vice- chancellors were asked to undertake prerequisite steps.—PPI
