ISLAMABAD, Oct 31: The capital police on Monday said they solved two murder cases and arrested three persons. The motive behind the murders was honour.

One of the cases was blind murder and the investigators arrested two persons for their alleged involvement in beheading a man on October 11.

Some passersby spotted the beheaded body lying in the wooded area of G-9/1 and informed the police. The Margalla police conducted search in the area and also recovered the head of the victim from a separate spot.

A few days later, a cook working at a restaurant in G-8 Markaz approached the Ramna police and identified the body as that of his brother, Mohammad Rafique.

He told the police that his brother had a quarrel with their relative Mohammad Bashir about 18 months back in their native town of Hattain Wala near Muzaffarabad. He also said Bashir had slit his brother's tongue at that time. The reason behind the quarrel, he added, was alleged illicit relation between Rafique and Bashir's mother.

After this, the police reached the native town of Bashir to arrest him on suspicion, but his family said he was also in Islamabad and worked as a cook in E-7.

The police picked him and during interrogation he confessed to killing Rafique with the help of his friend. He said on October 11 he asked Rafique on the phone to meet him in a boutique. On his arrival there, Bashir along with his friend Bilal overpowered him and tied his hands and legs. Later, the two men beheaded him with a knife and sprinkled acid on his neck to stop bleeding.

The next day at around 5:15am, the two accused with the help of Bashir's friend, a taxi driver, brought the body to the wooded area of G-9/1 and dumped it there. The victim's head was thrown somewhere else to avoid his identification.

Meanwhile, the police also arrested a man for allegedly killing his wife at G-12 two weeks ago.

The investigators said the couple tied the knot 16 years ago and had two children. While informing the police about the killing of his wife, her husband nominated a man behind her murder but during preliminary investigation he failed to respond the queries of the investigators. After the victim's burial, the police picked the husband who during interrogation confessed to murdering his wife.

He told the investigators that a couple of years back he started taking narcotics which affected his health and he stopped work. As a result, the family suffered financial crisis during which his wife arranged money from a man to bear the expenses of the family.

Later, the man developed illicit relation with her. As a result, her husband slit the throat of the woman with the help of his nephew when she was asleep.
