ISLAMABAD, Nov 15: The federal government has paid Rs3.466 million to the Public Works Department for the construction of residential accommodation for judicial officers and staff of the district courts of Islamabad, sources told this reporter.

The federal government has acquired a 2.5-acre land, worth Rs10.583 million, from the Capital Development Authority (CDA) in G-11/3 for construction of residential accommodation for the judicial officers and staff.

The PC-I of the project was prepared in 1996 and it will be completed soon at a cost of Rs39.932 million.

The sources said Rs19.980 million would be spent on the construction of residences of judges while Rs19.952 million would be spent on construction of subordinate staff residences, they added.

The construction work on the project, they said, would be started soon.

JUDICIAL COMPLEX: The district and sessions judge, Chaudhary Asad Raza, has summoned a high level meeting of the judiciary, bar and civic bodies to review the developmental work of the judicial complex on November 19.

The meeting will be attended by the judges of the district courts, members of the Islamabad Bar Association, CDA and PWD officials.

The complex, which will house the district courts of the federal capital, bar rooms, and lawyers’ chambers, is being built on a 10-acres land in G-10/1.
