KARACHI, Nov 14: A workshop on article-writing was held here on Thursday, by the Pakistan Press Foundation.

Senior journalist Fazal Qureshi, who conducted the workshop, told journalists that the main object of the workshop was to introduce the basic principles of article-writing.

He said articles should be aimed at educating and informing the people as it also served as a tool for opinion building.

He said an article-writer should cover all aspects of a topic and should have complete knowledge of the subject on which he or she intended to write an article.

He said headline, lead, explanation and history of the subject played an important role in writing a good article. He said including the opinion of an expert, related to the subject, enhanced the credibility of an article.

He said a good article should also suggest a solution of the problem which it highlighted.
