LAHORE, Oct 18: Some 20,000 workers will benefit from a decision of the Pakistan Electric Power Company (Pepco) to upgrade pay scales of BS-5 to BS-14 employees all over the country.
Posts of BS-1 to BS-4 workers have already been upgraded as a result of bilateral meeting between the accredited representatives of Pakistan Wapda Hydro Electric Central Labour Union (CBA) and Wapda Authority.
Union Secretary-General Khurshid Ahmad said on Tuesday that the Pepco managing director issued order to grant time scale upgrading at the rate of 30 per cent of sanctioned posts of BS-4 to BS-15 employees of each cadre, having 10 years service in the post.
The posts of BS-4 to BS-14 workers would be upgraded by two steps from original scale of their posts while for employees in BS-15 by one step from original scale of their post, provided they have passed departmental examination and mandatory training through respective selection board.
Mr Ahmad appealed to the workers that they should avail this facility by getting it implemented, improve their standard of service to the electricity consumers who have been facing hard time on account of power loadshedding and price hike in its tariff.
