LAHORE, Nov 13: Lawyers throughout the country will observe the Constitution Day on Thursday to press for the restoration of the 1973 Constitution.

Bar associations will hold meetings to highlight the adverse impact of the amendments made in the constitution through the LFO on the parliamentary system of government and demand its repeal.

Supreme Court Bar Association president Hamid Khan will be the guest of honour at a meeting to be held at the LHCBA. Bar leaders will speak at the meeting in which the programme for a campaign for the restoration of the constitution will also be chalked out.

Meanwhile, LHCBA secretary Shahid Mahmood Bhatti criticized the political leaders trying to compromise on the LFO, president’s constitutional status and the National Security Council for coming into power.

He said political leaders like Nawabzada Nasrullah Khan, Benazir Bhutto and Qazi Husain Ahmad had also supported the point of view of the Bar but the certain self-seekers among the politicians were trying to exploit the situation for personal gains.
