ISLAMABAD, Oct 12: The Crime Investigation Agency (CIA) of capital has busted a gang of impersonators who were allegedly involved in looting people, especially the expatriates and international passengers disguising themselves as officials of different agencies.

The police said on Wednesday that wireless sets and revolving lights used by police, pistols, mobile phones and valuables were also recovered from the three-member gang.

According to details, Asif, Ashfaq and Arbab were produced in the court of law form where they were remanded to police for further investigation.

The CIA in-charge Bashir Ahmed Noon, along with his team, was behind the arrest of the culprits who confessed to committing seven robberies during the last two months in which they looted the expatriates at Islamabad Highway, Grand Trunk Road and I.J Principal Road.

Besides, they also confessed to committing several other robberies and vehicle snatching in the twin-cities of Islamabad and Rawalpindi.

The police said that they used to impersonate staff of intelligence agencies, customs, criminal investigation department and immigration. They used to intercept people at Islamabad Highway, GT Road or I.J Principal Road and asked for their search. During the act, they looted valuables, jewelry and foreign currency from them.The police suspected that there was a possibility that the criminals had accomplices at Benazir International Airport who gave information regarding the passengers and their luggage, the police added.
