LAHORE, Nov 12: Two alleged robbers, who had been in the illegal custody of a police sub-inspector for the last one month, were recovered on Tuesday.

Families had lodged a complaint with the Lahore district police officer that Muhammadi Khan and Munawwar Khan were illegally detained by the investigation wing of Allama Iqbal police.

The DPO directed the Nawankot police DSP to look into the matter and submit a report. The DSP raided the investigation wing and recovered Muhammadi Khan and Munawwar Khan.

The DSP learnt that the alleged robbers were detained by Sub-Inspector Nasir Shah. On inquiry, the SI could not explain any charge against the suspects and that why their arrest had not been penned down.

The DSP took the alleged robbers and the SI with him to his office. A case for keeping the two men in illegal detention was registered against the SI and he was suspended from service.

Further investigations are under way.
