KHAIRPUR, Nov 12: The growers of Sobhodero and Kot Diji taluka held protest demonstrations on Tuesday to protest against the irrigation officials for creating water shortage in their respective minors.

The growers of Khora minor, Kharal minor, Ghirkeno Wah, and Teekno Wah also staged a sit-in.

Talking to newsmen, they said the irrigation officials were cutting off the water supply and putting them to trouble as the season for sowing wheat was due shortly.

They said the closure of water at this stage would cause monetary loss to the growers.

In Kot Diji Taluka, the growers of Mohabbat Wah held a demonstration outside the Khairpur Press Club to protest against the irrigation department for supplying water to their favourites.

ROTATION: The executive engineer, Irrigation, West Division, Khairpur, has issued a rotation schedule for 24 channels\minors of the East Division due to an acute shortage of irrigation water at the Sukkur Barrage.

The channels/minors were divided into two groups.

The first group included Khabbar, Babarloi, Faiz Wah system, Phulwahan, Kapri, Priyaloi, Haider, Salar, Jamaher minors, and the Faiz Nahar system which would remain open till Nov 14.

The second group included 13 channels/minors including Rahuja, Abad Kingri, Bodly, Fareedabad, Ahmedpur, Bhatti, Allahdad, Lalan system, Dinal, Toori, Ubhal Wah, and Hingorja minors which would remain open from Nov 14 to Nov 22.
