RAWALPINDI, Oct 10: Police on Monday arrested a young man for allegedly raping a five-year-old girl in the Ghaziabad locality on Sunday.

Sources said Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif had taken notice of the incident and directed the police to arrest the culprit as soon as possible. Doctors at the District Headquarters Hospital were also told to present him a detailed report.

The victim's parents and elder brother were special persons and her uncle lodged a case against the unknown culprit for sexually assaulting the little girl on Sunday.

The R.A. Bazaar police said they arrested a young man who allegedly raped the little girl.

Talking to Dawn , Superintendent of Police, Potohar Town, Athar Ismail confirmed the arrest and said after committing the crime the accused had hid in the house of his uncle in the locality.

He said the police and the family members of the victim were 100 per cent sure that the arrested man had raped the girl. He said the family of the girl had started living in the locality about 10 days back.

During investigation, the accused confessed to the crime.

“This case is very sensitive and police are investigating it from all angles. Police collected substantial evidences from the crime scene,” the SP said.

He said samples of hair and blood of the victim girl had been sent to Lahore for DNA test, adding blood and hair samples of the accused would also be sent for laboratory test.
