PESHAWAR, Nov 12: City district Nazim Azam Afridi has directed the monitoring committees to keep close liaison with the executive district officers (EDOs) of the relevant departments for effective and transparent working of the government departments.

He was speaking at a meeting of the monitoring committees here on Tuesday. Naib Nazim Mohammad Iqbal Khalil, Peshawar DCO Tariq Rafiq and town Nazimeen were also present on the occasion.

Azam said with the introduction of new local government system, problems of the people are being more effectively addressed and monitoring committees may play an important role in making various government departments more efficient and people friendly.

On the occasion, Iqbal said the monitoring committees should regularly convene their meetings and district government secretariat would provide them all necessary support.

The heads of various monitoring committees also underlined the problems which hinder the smooth functioning of the monitoring committees.

Azam assured them that all-out cooperation would be extended to monitoring committees for their proper functioning.

The city district Nazim also presided over a meeting of district advisory committee. The meeting discussed various matters pertaining to financial affairs of various towns and took a number of important decisions in this regard.
