ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani here on Wednesday presided over the AJK council session in which Rs8.35 billion AJK council budget for 2011-12 was approved.
The budget was presented by the minister in charge Mian Manzoor Ahmed Watto at the 46th session of the council.
Of the total outlay of Rs8.35 billion, Rs2.20 billion have been set aside for development while Rs970 million would be spent on non-development expenditures.
Rs25 million have been earmarked as development fund for each member of the AJK Legislative Council.
The revenue and non-revenue receipts amount to Rs6.19 billion, and the shortfall of Rs2.16 billion would be met through savings from non-development expenditures, receipts from PTA, increase in income tax and grants amounting to Rs1.6 billion from the government.
Mr Wattoo informed the session that pay scales and allowances of government employees of AJK have been revised in line with the government decision.
AJK president Sardar Mohammad Yaqoob Khan and Prime Minister Ch Abdul Majid thanked the Prime Minister for allocating funds which are instrumental in the completion of the mega projects in AJK.
Establishment of three medical colleges and the Agriculture University in the Azad Kashmir are the worth-mentioned projects.
The session was attended by Foreign Minister Hina Rabbani Khar, Khurshid Shah, Minister for Religious Affairs and Member, AJ&K Council, Sherry Rehman , Nawab Yousaf Talpur and others as members.
