KARACHI, Nov 16: The wife of Sindh governor, Khadija Soomro, has said children are our assets and light of our future and the constitution provides for full protection of their rights.

She was speaking at a seminar on “Juvenile Justice System Ordinance 2000” to mark the Universal Children’s Day celebrations, jointly organized by the Directorate of Social Welfare and Women Development Sindh and Unicef Sindh in the Nipa auditorium here on Thursday.

Begum Soomro said the constitution also provided for elimination of illiteracy and free and compulsory education up to secondary level, besides ensuring that children and women were not employed in vocations unsuited to their age and gender.

Talking about problems and hardships faced by children, she said these problems needed to be solved by the collective efforts of NGOs, the government, human rights organizations and international agencies concerning children.
