KARACHI: KUTS general body meets today

Published November 12, 2002

KARACHI, Nov 11: The Karachi University Teachers’ Society (KUTS) will hold a general body meeting at the KU arts auditorium at 10.30am on Tuesday.

President of the PMA and the joint action committee, Dr Yasmin Rashid, will address the meeting, followed by a protest demo at Karachi Press Club at 1pm. The meeting will discuss future relationship with the KU vice-chancellor and matters relating to the model university ordinance, library and internet facilities, delays in promotion, leave encashment, PhD and productivity allowances.

The KUTS had decided to reiterate its call for removal of the vice-chancellor, boycott of statuary meetings and struggle against the model university ordinance in its last general body meeting on Sept 26.

However, on Oct 26, its executive council decided to take part in the statutory body meetings under protest as they were being held by the University administration despite lack of quorum with decisions affecting teachers and the institution.—PPI
