PESHAWAR, Sept 19: Dacoits on Monday killed a youth and injured his sister-in-law when they offered resistance at Kocha Rehmatullah Kotwali in Hashtnagri.

An official of Hashtnagri police station quoting the complainant Abdul Haseeb's statement said a group of masked men armed with weapons entered his residence with intentions to loot the house but opened fire on his brother, Sohail Ahmad and Zahida, wife of his other brother, Tanveer, when they offered resistance, critically injuring them.

Abdul Haseeb said relatives and neighbours rushed his injured brother and sister-in-law to Lady Reading Hospital where Sohail Ahmad succumbed to wounds.

“The dacoits failed to take away household items amid cries of the family and fire and only managed to take along some cellphones,” the complainant said and added his family had no enmity with anyone. The police said a murder case against unidentified accused had been registered at the Hashtnagri police station and investigation was underway.
