Quran khwani at Iqbal’s mausoleum

LAHORE, Nov 8: The 125th birth anniversary of Allama Iqbal is being celebrated on Saturday (today). It will be a public holiday and all government offices, banks, educational institutions, industries and commercial centres will remain closed.

Quran khwani will be held at the mazar of the poet near the entrance of the Badshahi Mosque after the morning prayers. The members of the Nazaria-i-Pakistan Foundation, the Pakistan Movement Workers Trust, Punjab University, various NGOs and institutions, students of local schools and colleges and workers belonging to various trade unions will visit the mazar to offer ‘fateha’ and place floral wreaths at his grave as a homage to his achievements in various fields.

Numerous meetings will be held at different places while the main function will be held at the Alhamra Hall at 10am under the auspices of the Markazi Majlis-i-Iqbal with Jamaat-i-Islam amir and MMA parliamentary leader in the National Assembly in the chair. — Reporter
