KARACHI, Sept 7: In the car parking of the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre, a young man was found dead wrapped in a plastic sheet, usually used as a car cover. The police said the body was found in the parking area of the health facility and was later shifted for medico-legal formalities.

“The victim appeared to be in his mid-20s and was wearing a shirt and trousers,” said Inspector Tasawwur Hussain, the SHO of the Saddar police station. “Initial findings suggest that he was strangled as there was no mark of torture or bullet wound on his body. We were informed by the hospital about the body’s presence.”

Woman held for killing husband

Police arrested a woman and a neighbour of hers in Saeedabad allegedly for killing her husband, whose body was recovered from an abandoned home after more than 15 days of his death.

An official said the family of Zulfiqar approached the Saeedabad police station on Aug 20 with a complaint that he had gone missing.

The police during an investigation found the role of his wife, Salma, suspicious and grilled her that led to some grim disclosures.

“The woman told investigators that she along with her neighbour Naseer Niazi strangled her husband on the night of Aug 19,” said Inspector Asad Mangi, the SHO of the Saeedabad police station.

“Both the accused then buried his body in an abandoned house in the same street. The police then arrested the woman as well as her neighbour Naseer Niazi after recovering the body.”

He said the police had registered an FIR (510/2011) under Sections 302 (premeditated murder) and 34 (common intention) of the Pakistan Penal Code against both the accused on the complaint of the victim’s elder brother.
