HARIPUR, Nov 8: Unemployment is one of the big problems confronting the nation today and this could be tackled if a big boost is given to the industrial sector.

This was stated by the MPA-elect, Qazi Muhammad Asad Khan, while speaking at a function arranged by some Hattar-based industrialists for the distribution of atta and ghee among the needy.

Qazi Asad said that for one reason or another, the industrial growth had remained unsatisfactory and hundreds of operating units closed down countrywide, particularly in the underdeveloped areas.

He said as industries frequently fell sick, and the tax collection dropped as a result, it contributed to joblessness in a big way.

He lamented that the people of Haripur had sacrificed their costly land for Hattar Industrial Estate but, in return, the industrialists deserted, declaring their concerns sick.

He called for adopting a patriotic approach to this matter and instilling a sense of responsibility among the industrialists.

He also suggested that the government-in-waiting must seriously consider giving some incentives to the industrialists for achieving the goal of industrial development in the country.
