HYDERABAD, Sept 6: Elected representatives of the people, writers and poets have said that the late poet Hassan Dars was a poet of nature and beauty and a decent human being.

They were speaking at the birth anniversary of the late poet at Sindh Museum here on Monday night. The anniversary function was jointly organised by the Sindh culture department and Radio Pakistan.

Speaking on the occasion, federal minister for law and justice, senator Moula Bux Chandio, said that late Hassan Dars was the poet of Sindh, Sindhi people, Sindhi traditions and beauty. He said it was very painful to speak of him as late Hassan Dars.

He said he was proud that he had been associated with late Hassan Dars for quite sometime. He said if any responsibility was entrusted to him with regard to the publication of his poetic works or any book, he would definitely fulfil this responsibility.

Sindh minister for culture, Ms Sassui Palijo said that late Hassan Dars was not an ordinary poet and added that had he live longer, he would have produced more masterpieces. She said whatever he had written for Sindh could never be forgotten. She said the late poet was a great exponent of peace and justice.

Paying tribute to late Hassan Dars, noted poet Imdad Hussaini said that the poets never die adding that the services of the poets should be acknowledged during their lifetime.

He said tributes were being paid to Hassan Dars in English, Sindhi and Urdu only after he was no more amidst us. He termed Hassan Dars as peoples' poet.

His close associate and intellectual, Jami Chandio, in his speech said that Hassan Dars was not only a great poet but also a master of folk literature.

Professor Inam Shaikh said that by nature, Hassan Dars was a simpleton and added that he was only next to Shaikh Ayaz.

The others who paid tributes to the late poet included journalist Wusatullah Khan, Naz Sehto and others.
