RAWALPINDI, Nov 7: The additional district and sessions judge, Mohammad Sarwar Sidhu, on Thursday awarded death sentence on three counts and 100 lashes to a person, who had killed his aunt and her one-year-old baby boy, after subjecting her to criminal assault.

The convict, Ghulam Murtaza, a resident of Gujar Khan, had axed to death Riffat Zahida, the wife of his paternal uncle, after raping her, the police said. When the woman resisted the assault, the convict killed her and her son, Danish.

The father of the convict, Javid, was complainant in the case, who collected all the evidences against his son.

Javid told this reporter that his son had committed the worst kind of barbarism by raping and murdering the woman and the baby.

Meanwhile, the additional district and sessions judge, Mian Muhammad Shafi, awarded death sentences to a woman and her accomplice for killing her husband.

The court also imposed a fine of Rs100,000 each.

Warrant issued: An accountability court on Thursday issued arrest warrant for the third time against Surriya Noorani, the wife of CBR director audit Mazhar Anwar Noorani, who is a co- accused in a Rs70 million corruption case.
