SAHIWAL, Nov 7: The city tehsil municipal administration has imposed two taxes on venders in the Green Market, as a result the prices of all vegetables have increased manifold.

Potatoes and onions, which were available in the green market at the rate of Rs6 and Rs12 per kilo, were now being sold for Rs10 and Rs20 per kilo, respectively.

From the first day of Ramazan, each thara vender would have to pay Rs100 daily in addition to the Rs 1,000 ground rent per month to the City TMA.

The venders will also pay to the TMA contractor 10 per cent of the price of vegetables they purchase from dealers for marketing in the green market.

Around 245 thara venders vegetables of the green market have appealed to the tehsil administration to withdraw the taxes.

INJURED: A man was injured in a dispute over the possession of land in Chak No 93/9-L on Thursday.

Naib Nazim Muhammad Sarwar purchased an agricultural land from Abdul Sattar of the village against payment of Rs1 million. Sattar’s brother Abdul Malik was against the deal.

Abdul Malik and his 10 accomplices came to the land on Thursday and opened fire, seriously injuring Gulzar Ahmad.
