JUI-F not happy with MMA-PPP accord

Published November 7, 2002

ISLAMABAD Nov 6: Hafiz Hussain Ahmed, secretary general of the JUI-F and a senior leader of the MMA, on Wednesday expressed his reservations against the document of agreement which was to be signed between the MMA and the ARD on formation of the coalition government.

Talking to newsmen he said that the PPP by trying to deal with the government as well as making coalition with the alliance had put the MMA in an awkward position.

When asked why the process of political dialogue was suspended among the power players, he said there should be a day or two gap in the five-day match.

He said that the MMA would like to re-consider all details of the agreement with the ARD. He said the alliance was not happy with the approach of keeping all the major ministries like finance, foreign affairs and economic affairs by the PPP.

Mr Ahmed said that the Balochistan chapter of his party had asked the MMA to opt for occupying the opposition benches in the Centre.
