TT title for GGC Abbottabad

PESHAWAR, Nov 6: Government Girls College, Abbottabad No.1 clinched Peshawar University table tennis crown after defeating Frontier College for Women (FCW) Peshawar 3-0 in the final played Wednesday.

Asma Jadoon (GCC) defeated Asma Saleem (FCW) 21-18, 21-11 while in the second singles Muniza Naz beat Saba 21-11, 21-9 and Asma and Muniza overcame Huma and Sonia 21-13, 20-21 and 21-18 to seal the victory.

Earlier, Abbottabad outclassed GGC, Thana (Malakand Agency) 3-0 in the first semifinal played late Wednesday .

Asma and Muniza Naz defeated Thana College Zaynab Atta and Farzana in the singles and then defeated Zaynab and Shama Rukh in the doubles to complete the whitewash.

FCW upset defending champion Mardan 3-1 in the second semifinal.—APP
